National league takes a mid-season break

The league, which started on 6th April 2019 attracted 9 men and 9 women teams. This was an increase from the previous season that had only 7 men’s teams and 6 for women. Nkumba (W), Police (M&W), Kyambogo University(M), and Kawanda Secondary School(W) are the new teams for the 2019 season.

The appointment of a league manager (GOWE Services) at the beginning of 2019 has seen a lot of improvement in the image and conduct of the Handball League, with the enforcement of regulations, team appearance and time management. These, coupled with an e-management portal for player registration, results management and statistics has improved information access and sharing.

Tracking and displaying of player statistics has been a key addition that is helping both clubs and national team managers to appreciate and make informed decisions regarding player and team improvement. The league has experienced an increase in followers due to its focus on the digital generation.
