Nkajja's Brendah Akampa breaks through Makerere University's defense

Five matches played as 2nd round throws off

The 2nd round of the National Handball League threw off today with five matches on Match day 14 at Police Children School in Kibuli, Kampala.  

Game 78 - Mak Ladies 10[3] VS [9]18 NKAJJA HANDBALL CLUB 

Namagembe Aminah of Nkajja emerged as player of the match, in the 2nd round opener that was interrupted by a heavy morning downpour, with 8 goals and 3 assists. Though they lost, Makerere University’s side improved on their defense hence a reduced goal margin from the 1st round encounter. Atwine Grace was their top scorer with 4 goals.

Game 79 - NKUMBA TORNADOES 20[10] VS [5]8 Uganda Police Ladies

Nkumba University continued their great performance with a very convincing win against the cops. Winger Nakamanya Jesca top scored for the team and also took home the player of the Match award, helping her side strengthen their grip on the top of the table. Police collected the 8 goals from four player, each finding the back of the net twice.

Game 80 - Ndejje University Lady Hoppers 24[11] VS [7]19 Kawanda Secondary School

Kawanda put up a dismal performance in a much anticipated encounter, losing to the University Lady Hoppers by 5 goals. Shirat Zawedde of Ndejje was player of the match, while Fauzia Nakajja was team topscorer with 6 goals. Kawanda’s Shakira Bako and Hadija Nandela both scored 4 goals to top for their school side.

Game 81 - Kyengeza Handball Club 16[6] VS [10]20 Prisons Lady Spears

Lamunu Scovia continued to shine for her club, collecting 10 goals as top scorer and player of the match. The National Team Captain has contributed most of the goals for the prison waders since the league started.

Kyengeza put up a spirited fight but were no match for the experienced prisons side. Bridget Nanyanga was team top scorer with 5 goals.

Game 82 - Makerere University __ [14] VS [10] __ Kyambogo University

Poor visibility did not allow the only men’s match of the day to end. The referees were forced to stop it with 10 minutes of play left. The morning downpour led to loss of time.

Makerere University was however leading with 25 goals against Kyambogo’s 17. Another schedule will be set for the 10 minutes   

 

Match Day 15 on Saturday 21st September 9:00am to 6:00pm at the same venue

The league is managed by GOWE Services on behalf of Uganda Handball Federation with matches played at a kibuli as a central venue.
